The Water Planning Officer will work within a dynamic team helping to develop Queensland Water Plans within the Murray Darling Basin and Great Artesian Basin. The role assists with leading development of innovative, outcomes-focussed management solutions and planning policy to support efficient and sustainable management of Queensland’s water resources, including underground water.

Duties include assisting with the development of water plans, supporting instruments and other water planning documents in line with Queensland Water Act 2000 requirements. You will be required to liaise with technical experts from various disciplines to inform development of water management solution. You will undertake desktop research, data collection, interpretation, and analysis to inform the assessment of a range of water management and policy issues and assist with consultation with internal and external clients.
Other duties include assisting with preparation of policy papers, briefing notes, Cabinet submissions, Governor -in Council documentation, and other correspondence as required. You will contribute to analysis and interpretation of existing National and State Government strategies, policies and legislation in relation to efficient and sustainable management of Queensland’s water resources.

A degree qualification in a field that is relevant to the Key Duties and Accountabilities.
