DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organisation that has been operating in Ukraine since 2022. In Ukraine, DCA has a joint country programme with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), forming the Joint Country Program Ukraine (JCPUA) which focuses on various humanitarian activities.
About the job
Under the supervision of the WASH Programme Manager, the WASH Coordinator will contribute to the efficient and effective implementation of the DCA WASH Programme in Ukraine.
The DCA WASH programme includes emergency and early recovery projects aimed at improving access to water supply, hygienic sanitation conditions and heating services. While the position is based in Mykolaiv, she/he will provide coordination support to the WASH Teams in Mykolaiv and in Dnipro and provide technical support to implementing partners as well as for DCA directly implemented projects. WASH Coordinator will also liaise directly with local stakeholders, authorities, construction companies, internal departments and the Senior Management Team (SMT). In case of absence of the WASH Programme Manager, she/he will be the focal point for all WASH activities of DCA in Ukraine.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage relations between local partners, local authorities, other DCA departments and SMT level
- Planning, design, implementation and monitoring of – WASH projects
- Contribute and monitor contractual engagements of contractors, consultants and local partners
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to other team members and implementing partners
- Evaluate the technical status of projects and propose any amendment steps to achieve project objectives
- In case of absence of the WASH Programme Manager, oversee and communicate all activities of the Ukrainian WASH Programme internally as well as externally
- Support the timely development of donor proposals
- Communicate with partners for progress monitoring, in support of the MEAL team
- Collecting and facilitating feedback and Lessons Learnt with local partners
- Submit regular technical and organizational reports as required
- Contribute to country office strategies, reviews, action and contingency plans
- Support programme accountability to partners, national government, benefiting communities and donors.
- Participate in humanitarian cluster meetings
- Organize and facilitate field visits and/or meetings of donors, HQ or other high-level interlocutors
Requirements:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering fields.
- Professional fluency in written and spoken Ukrainian and English is required.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience as a practising engineer, and as staff coordinator.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in an NGO.
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, supervision and coordination.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, ability to communicate effectively on culturally sensitive issues to diverse audiences.
- Ability to be proactive and work independently.
- Ability to operate in a high stress and unpredictable environment.
- Willingness to travel between offices and project locations
