As a Flood Risk Officer, you will be working in a diverse team supporting many aspects of flood risk management including: modelling and data management, responding to planning and permitting applications. partnership working, as well as development of flood risk management strategies and schemes. You will be responsible for responding to requests for information and general enquires from the public as well as advising on permitting and planning applications to ensure they suitably manage flood risk. The role also requires working with key internal and external partners and communicating key messages regarding flood risk to the public.

Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises, having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and is an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. The team

You’ll join our Partner and Strategic Overview Team which has a varied workload. This includes responding to requests for information as well as technically reviewing/assessing flood risk relating to planning applications and providing technical comments on flood risk activity permits including compliance checks. We develop and deliver capital flood risk projects to help alleviate flooding in affected communities. We work closely with internal and external teams to protect people, place and property from flooding.

*You’ll have an EA Office base location, in Trentside, Nottingham. But we do offer hybrid working arrangement which may include a mixture of office days, other Environment Agency offices, working from home and site visits. A driving licence is desirable as site visits across the East Midlands area may be required.
