Offer Description
Research Scholarship (BI) within the scope of the project “Phos4Cycle – Monitoring phosphates in agricultural activities for the sustainable use of soil and water”, with operation code S1/2.7/E0044, supported by the INTERREG SUDOE 2021-2027 Program co-financed by the European Union.
The purpose of the research scholarship will be to implement and develop the following activities:
- Support the development of the Strategy and Action Plan to prevent and reduce water and soil contamination by phosphates from agricultural activities.
- Establish and monitor experimental plots in two pilot areas of the project in Portugal, allowing the development of a contamination risk prediction model.
- Perform laboratory analyses of water, soil, and sediment samples.
- Collaborate in the capacity-building activities for project beneficiaries and other entities to contribute to the adoption of the phosphate contamination prevention Strategy and Action Plan.
- Support the drafting of technical activity reports and scientific publications.
- Support the project’s dissemination activities and its results.

Benefits
The grant will last for nine and half months, on an exclusive regime.
Monthly Maintenance Allowance: €1,309.64, with payment made monthly by bank transfer.
To this amount is added the voluntary social insurance corresponding to the first tier, and a personal accident insurance contract.

Candidates with foreign qualifications must submit proof of recognition of their foreign academic degree in Portugal, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16.

Selection process

- Declaration under commitment of honour, in which, if enrolled in an ongoing not conferring academic degree, the applicant does not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of one year in that type of scholarship, followed or interpolated, in accordance with Research Grant Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra – Order No. 5963/2020, of 01/06. The evaluation results will be published. All candidates will be notified for the purposes of prior hearing, via email.

- Motivation of the candidate to participate in the project (15%).
There may be an interview if it is necessary to break a tie between candidates.
