WaSH Theme
The initiative under the WaSH theme seeks to improve the health, dignity, and overall well-being of rural and tribal communities by promoting access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and improved hygiene practices, underpinned by principles of sustainability, inclusivity, and community ownership. It emphasizes capacity building of local institutions and community members to adopt and sustain behavior changes that ensure safe water usage, proper sanitation management, and hygiene practices at the household and community levels. The approach focuses on integrated water resource management, promotion of climate-resilient water supply systems, waste management solutions, and gender-responsive sanitation facilities that contribute to improved public health and environmental sustainability. Strengthening community-based organizations such as Village Development Committees, Water User Groups, and Self-Help Groups is central to fostering collective action, local governance, and accountability. Through these integrated interventions, the program aims to create healthy, resilient, and empowered communities capable of maintaining sustainable WaSH practices amidst evolving climatic and socio-economic challenges.

Brief Job Description:
The position leads the WaSH portfolio for VCF with projects being implemented in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ensuring the design, implementation, monitoring, and scaling of integrated, sustainable, and community-driven water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions.
1. Lead the design and development of innovative WaSH programs aligned with organizational goals, donor priorities, and national/state policies.
2. Prepare high-quality concept notes, detailed proposals, logical frameworks, and technical documentation for resource mobilization and program expansion.
3. Develop and oversee implementation of infrastructure and technology-based solutions including water supply systems, sanitation and faecal sludge management and climate-resilient technologies.
4. Provide technical guidance and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), design manuals, and quality assurance frameworks for field implementation.
5. Lead preparation of Annual Work Plans (AWPs), budgets, and results frameworks ensuring programmatic, technical, and financial alignment.
6. Oversee program implementation across geographies, ensuring adherence to work plans, budgets, and quality standards.
7. Establish and strengthen partnerships with government departments, research institutions, CSR partners, and private sector entities for program convergence and scaling.
8. Drive donor engagement, ensure timely reporting, compliance, and proposal submissions. Manage budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial efficiency and transparency in all program operations.
9. Lead, mentor, and build the capacity of multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure effective program delivery and leadership succession.
10. Document best practices, innovations, and lessons learned to strengthen knowledge management and advocacy.
11. Manage risks proactively and ensure sustainability through strengthened community institutions, effective operation and maintenance systems, and local ownership.
Job Specifications:
Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong understanding of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) systems, including community-led approaches, water resource management, sanitation technologies, and hygiene behavior change processes.
• Proven abilities in team leadership, strategic planning, program management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and a demonstrated willingness to learn and innovate.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams with strong facilitation, coordination, and project monitoring skills.
• Proficiency in analysing reports, developing action plans, and ensuring quality implementation.
• Fluency in English and Telugu, both spoken and written.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with MIS and data management tools.
• Willingness to travel extensively across project locations, particularly in remote and tribal geographies, and flexibility to handle diverse responsibilities.
Experience:
• Minimum 10–12 years of relevant experience in WaSH and/or renewable energy program design, implementation, and management.
• Proven experience in proposal development, donor engagement, and partnership management.
• Strong understanding of water resource management, sanitation systems, hygiene behaviour change, and renewable energy applications.
• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, AWP preparation, program monitoring, and MEAL systems.
• Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, project management tools, and data systems.
• Willingness to travel extensively across rural and tribal regions.
Qualifications:
Graduate /Postgraduate degree in Rural Development, Social studies, Public Health, Agriculture/livelihoods, Engineering or any related field.
