Job Description:
Your tasks:
- Independent research activities in the modelling of urban water systems, with a particular focus on pluvial flood modelling
- Cooperation with emergency response organisations in the context of flood risk prevention and preparedness
- Collaboration in the project “FloodPrep – Supporting emergency services in heavy rain management during pluvial flooding” and cooperation with national and international project partners in German and English
- Independent organisation and delivery of lectures, including the design and administration of examinations
- Supervision of bachelor’s theses and co-supervision of master’s and doctoral theses
- Participation in the preparation, submission, coordination, and implementation of national and international third-party-funded research projects
- Training and further education programmes
- Participation in organisational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Doctorate or PhD degree in a relevant subject (technical sciences, civil and environmental engineering)
- Excellent knowledge in the modelling of drainage systems, especially in the modelling of pluvial flooding
- Demonstrated experience in the validation and plausibility assessment of modelling results
- Knowledge of the relevant Austrian and European standards and regulations for the planning and evaluation of urban drainage systems
- Experience in working with emergency response organisations is desirable
- Good programming skills in Python
- Proven publication experience
- Excellent written and spoken English and German language skills
- Teaching skills, experience in supervising students
- Experience in acquiring and managing national and international third-party funded projects
- Leadership skills in dealing with student employees and project staff
- Ability to work in a team and reliability
- Enthusiasm for university research
- Ability to work independently and show initiative
