We are currently seeking a Project Manager – Integrated Water Management Consultant to join our dynamic team in our Walnut Creek, California office.

Your Key Responsibilities

This position is external client-facing within our Pacific Water Practice, as a member of the integrated water management team. T hrough teamwork and collaboration, you will support all aspects of consulting: doing, managing, and winning work.

Do: Deliver high quality water planning and engagement consulting services.

  • Lead projects or serve as project manager to draw on your water sector expertise.
  • Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams conducting integrated water management, planning, and engagement projects throughout California and the western U.S.
  • Apply your knowledge of and experience in California water resources which may include drinking water, groundwater, integrated water management, and applicable laws, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with project technical leaders, project managers, engagement specialists, project engineers and scientists, clients, communities, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors.
  • Champion Stantec’s project management, quality, and risk protocols.

Manage: Contribute to the development of our team of high-performing water resources professionals.

  • Support professional development of our team through on-the-job training, exposure to various levels of responsibility and interaction with clients and stakeholders, and guidance on their participation in professional organizations and events.
  • Grow to supervise and mentor staff to support their personal career growth.

Win: Support marketing and business development efforts to grow Stantec’s water resources planning and management services.

  • Identify trends and leverage your knowledge of the water industry, market, and clients.
  • Engage our clients in meaningful discussions about their most critical issues and translate those discussions into opportunities to deliver solutions.
  • Work with our marketing and business development team to support the pursuit and capture of projects within your area of expertise.
  • Assist in developing new work opportunities and building new client relationships
  • Actively participate in regional and national industry groups to advance the Stantec brand and maximize exposure of Stantec’s subject matter experts.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proven experience managing complex projects with internal teams, subconsultants, and vendors.
  • Experience leading and managing complex engagement efforts related to water resources, including drinking water, groundwater, water-related infrastructure, and Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience guiding and leading engagement efforts based in participatory methods and suited to specific communities’ context.
  • applicable laws/policies/regulations/guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of and interest in local and state government organizational structure, budgeting / reporting, infrastructure funding, and types of services they provide.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Capable of presenting/sharing project updates in an interactive work setting while being able to adjust in a live setting.
  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Keen sense of team. Willing to step in and take on additional responsibility for the good of the entire team.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and other business systems required.
  • Strong attention to details as deliverables are open to public review and scrutiny.
  • Willing to travel as needed. In the first year, in-state travel may be up to 10%. As you develop your skills for success and become a crucial part of multiple project teams, travel requirements may increase.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in geography; environmental policy, management, or analysis; or similar fields, is required. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • 6 years total post-undergraduate working experience in project or environmental management roles.
  • Knowledge of and experience water resources management, program management and design, particularly related to provision of drinking water and mitigation of source water contamination.
  • Direct work experience/history with local or state government agencies.
  • Elements of project management experience, including preparing and managing project scope, schedule, team activities, communication, and deliverables.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred

Pay Range:

• Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP)-$114,500.00 – $166,100.00 Annually
