  • You’ll work together to identify and drive activities that offer multiple benefits and ensure that environmental improvements are delivered through effective and innovative interventions in the catchment.
  • You’ll work very closely with Catchment Partnerships and other stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver partnership projects in the catchment and look for funding opportunities.
  • You’ll communicate the Environment Agency’s priorities and help others to understand our data, evidence and processes, ensuring that we get the best environmental outcomes.
  • You will work with Area teams and partners to better integrate the business, specifically by leading on virtual catchment delivery teams. An integrated catchment-based approach is essential, and you will need to use environmental data to develop projects with multiple benefits.

Whilst this opportunity is initially for up to 12 months there may be the possibility of an extension.

The team

As a member of the Thames Strategy, Planning & Catchment Engagement Team in the Environment, Planning and Engagement Department, you will join a dynamic group that delivers a variety of environmental projects. Working in partnership with both internal and external partners, the team focusses on integrated outcomes to deliver multiple benefits for the environment. We are a friendly, enthusiastic, and supportive team with a good reputation for working across functions and organisations.

Experience/skills required

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, able to facilitate and influence internal teams to integrate our catchment management by bringing people together, encouraging innovation and harnessing other’s experience.

  • Working collaboratively with Catchment Partnerships and other stakeholders, you will identify, develop, and deliver partnership projects in the catchments.
  • You will provide project management support for Environment Agency funded projects, seeking funding and opportunities to achieve multiple benefits from other projects and developments.
  • You will help partners understand our data, evidence, and processes, using this to identify and influence opportunities for environmental improvements.
  • You will communicate our priorities to catchment partnerships and wider, ensuring that we get the best environmental outcomes from the funding and opportunities available.

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.

Contact and additional information

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team, planning and delivering the environmental improvements required as part of our commitment to achieving Water Framework Directive objectives. You will need a valid driving licence for regular travel to partner offices and project sites which is required, since it is a hybrid role.

Good knowledge of the Thames area, Water Framework Directive, Catchment Based Approach (CaBA), River Basin Management Planning, project management or external funding would be desirable, but training will be provided.
