SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflict and natural disasters by addressing their vital needs: water, food, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death worldwide, SI implements its interventions with expertise in the areas of access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, as well as in the essential areas of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams—a total of 3,200 people including expatriates, national staff, headquarters staff, and a few volunteers—operate with professionalism and dedication, respecting local cultures.

The mission

Technical assessment of access to water and sanitation, applications for water connections at informal settlements, and maintenance of existing facilities.

Development of innovative projects to improve living conditions at these sites.

Monitoring and support of associations in the North Coast area (Calais/Dunkirk).

5 salaried positions in the northern zone (CT, RP mobcom, RP EHA, RP Saturnisme, Log admin) + 1 assistant or apprentice.

Job description

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:

Since March 2020, SI has been working in France to address the challenges of water, hygiene, and sanitation poverty in five regions. In partnership with metropolitan water and sanitation operators and their foundations, its projects target people living in precarious housing situations who have limited access to basic services, including drinking water, sanitation, and essential hygiene products.

SI’s strategy is to support local stakeholders in their search for concrete solutions by improving sanitary conditions in these areas, notably through the installation of drinking water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, and the development of pilot projects tailored to the specific context of each intervention zone.

MAIN CHALLENGES:

Fieldwork; project management (development and reporting); mobility in the ĂŽle-de-France region, Lille, and the North Coast; support for associations on the North Coast

PRIORITIES FOR THE FIRST 2/3 MONTHS:

  • Direct implementation of WASH activities: diagnostics and installation of drinking water connections
  • Development or resumption of ongoing pilot projects
  • Technical support

Your profile

DEGREE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Water technician training / RPEHA Bioforce training or equivalent
  • Experience in a similar role: 0-2 years
  • Experience in the humanitarian sector: 0-2 years

COMPETENCES:

Technical skills:

  • Technical knowledge related to drinking water regulations
  • Mastery of basic plumbing
  • Project management (monitoring indicators, activity planning, etc.)

Cross-cutting skills:

  • Relational skills (links with partners, teams, audiences, etc.)
  • Writing skills
  • Autonomy

LANGUAGES:

  • French
  • Romanian (an advantage) 

SI will offer you the following conditions

A salaried position: Depending on experience, starting from EUR 2865 gross per month
