  • Provide research and analysis support to the implementation of prioritized water related environmental programs, including:
    • Best practice research from other jurisdictions and industries.
    • Collate and monitor comparable outcomes, strategies, actions and messaging taken by other parties in the Calgary region.
    • Analyze customer data and research for trends and insights to inform implementation action.
    • Respond to customer inquiries related to areas of research.
    • Jurisdictional scan of municipal turf replacement approaches across Canada and comparable regions.
    • Review of ecological and climate considerations for sustainable turf alternatives.
    • Assessment of relevant policy tools, incentives, and public outreach options.
    • Develop of actionable recommendations suited to both public and private landowners.
    • Identification of opportunities to embed turf replacement within current and planned City strategies.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Diploma or Degree program in Economics, Water Resources, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Geography, Water Technology, or a related field
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, One Note)
  • Success in this position requires research and analysis, problem solving, writing, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis with the intent to return to school full-time in the Fall of 2026.

Position Type: 1 Temporary Student (May – August) Location: 625 25 Avenue S.E. 
Compensation: $29.82 per hour Days of Work: This position works a 5 day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle. 
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
