Offer Description
Scientific Advisor: Maria Teresa Condesso de Melo (ist31473)
Organic Unit: Centre for Environmental and Marine Science and Technology
Scholarship Theme: The fellowship holder is expected to work on hydrological modelling, requiring solid knowledge of
the hydrological cycle, water balance processes, and environmental data analysis. They will integrate the MOHID Land
model development team and contribute to the interpretation and evaluation of the hydrological outputs generated by
three large-scale hindcast models developed for Portugal: a national-scale model covering the entire Portuguese
territory, and two transboundary watershed models, representing the Minho and Douro basins across both Spain and
Portugal. Their responsibilities will include performing post-processing and evaluation of model outputs. Analytical tasks
will include water balance assessments, such as estimating groundwater recharge, water deficit, groundwater level
dynamics, and evapotranspiration, across multiple temporal scales (from daily to annual) and spatial scales (from the
national territory to individual watersheds). The work carried out is relevant for the completion of a PhD degree.
Duration: 12 months
Maximum Duration Including Renewals: 24 months
