Responsibilities

We are seeking professionals to join our rapidly expanding team of Water Quality and Catchment Management specialists so that we can continue to deliver sustainable solutions to the water sector and environmental regulators in the UK and help protect the water environment. 
With a background in earth sciences and working knowledge of water quality and geochemistry / environmental chemistry you should be aware of the UK situation with regard to:

• Conduct comprehensive analyzes of water quality parameters utilizing various modeling and analysis platforms.
• Experience in hydraulic modeling – including any of the following environments in 1D, 2D, Rivers, Canals and Sewers.
• Applicants must be familiar with appropriate software for the tasks to be undertaken including; InfoWorks ICM (1D/2D), TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and MIKE11. Have working knowledge of water quality modeling tools (SAGIS, SIMBASINQ, SIMCAT, InfoWorks, ICM etc.).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, interpret, and assess data related to water quality, utilizing statistical methods and software tools and other relevant programs, to derive meaningful insights.
• Demonstrate understanding of how to conceptualize a water quality problem and knowledge of the available datasets which can be used in problem solving. 
• Generate detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings, trends, and recommendations to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Employ automation to improve data analysis efficiency and create custom tools for water quality assessment and reporting.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in water quality management systems, proposing innovative solutions and strategies.
• Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in water quality standards.

Prior work experience, either postdoctoral or in consultancy or working in the water sector (regulator or industry) would be desirable. 
You should have an interest in problem solving through interrogation of time series and spatial datasets, good conceptualization skills and understand the importance of source pathway receptor models and be able to clearly communicate ideas either through your writing or visualizations. An awareness of how groundwater and surface water interact would also be useful. 
You will be based in our India office (Bengaluru or Mumbai as per your choice), but will work collaboratively with teams across WSP’s global business and mainly with our UK based teams. So, being able to work effectively as part of a diverse team, as well as individually for discrete tasks, is very important to us.
 

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering.
• Basic understanding of water and wastewater projects, preferably with exposure to standards and specifications in the UK Water Industry. A Minimum of 2 years industry experience is desired.
• Basic experience in appropriate modeling software including Infoworks ICM, InfoAsset Manager, QGIS and ArcGIS. Experience using surface water quality modeling software
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English is desired.
• Should demonstrate ability to work on own initiative on some technical matters.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently.
