Call for Expressions of Interest: NBD Regional Manager

The Nile Basin Discourse (NBD) invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from qualified individuals within the Nile Basin region for the position of NBD Regional Manager.

To ensure long-term sustainability and continued relevance, NBD seeks a dynamic and results-oriented Regional Manager to lead the strategic repositioning of its regional operations. The role will focus on strengthening NBD’s value proposition, enhancing institutional impact, and delivering high-quality programmes through effective coordination, stakeholder engagement, and resource mobilization.

The Regional Manager position is central to NBD’s expanded regional mandate under the NCSCR Project. With increased cross-country engagements, complex coordination requirements, multiple stakeholder interfaces, and heightened accountability demands, the role requires strong leadership to guide the Secretariat, ensure harmonized implementation across National Discourse Forums (NDFs), and uphold compliance with World Bank and internal policies. The position is critical for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and timely delivery of project results at the regional level, while shaping long-term organizational transformation and ensuring high-quality programming.

Assignment Objective
The overall objective of this assignment is to provide effective leadership and ensure overall coordination, management, and implementation of NBD Secretariat programmes and activities. This includes day-to-day decision-making, technical oversight, financial and technical reporting, coordination with and reporting to project partners, line management of support staff, continuous resource mobilization, and sustained engagement with stakeholders and beneficiaries.
The Regional Manager will also provide strategic leadership to shape NBD’s long-term direction, define future organizational goals, and drive transformative initiatives that strengthen NBD’s relevance, sustainability, and impact across the Nile Basin.

Time Frame
The contract duration is nine (9) months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
