EarthEcho is seeking a self-directed employee to coordinate EarthEcho’s US-based Water Challenge Ambassadors. The Water Challenge Ambassadors are vital to the success of EarthEcho’s signature community science program, the EarthEcho Water Challenge. The Ambassador Coordinator will grow EarthEcho’s network of Water Challenge Ambassadors – youth ages 13-22 – through direct support and mentoring to mobilize these youth for the protection and restoration of water resources in their communities.
The EarthEcho Water Challenge builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging community members at large to conduct basic monitoring of their local waterbodies and implement their own strategies toward the protection and improvement of those water resources. The program runs annually, with key activation dates on March 22 (the United Nations World Water Day) and September 18 (World Water Monitoring Day) building public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging community members to conduct basic monitoring of their local waterbodies:
- Check: It all starts by understanding the state of water quality in the community.
- Share: Entering data online to our global database at monitorwater.org and sharing stories and photos with the broader EarthEcho Water Challenge community of practitioners through social media. (tagging @EarthEcho)
- Protect: Informed by water quality data, participants use the information and resources available on monitorwater.org to take action and protect their vital water resources.
