SA Water is proactively tackling the water security challenges driven by our drying and warming climate, alongside accelerating population and economic growth. Our Water Futures & Security Unit plays a critical role in statewide water security by ensuring sufficient source water is available to meet the needs of all SA Water customers – whether Metropolitan or Regional, in the short, medium and long terms. This is an exciting time to join a growing and welcoming team, as we leverage adaptive and integrated water security planning to accelerate our transition to more climate-resilient water supply systems across our State.
We are seeking passionate professionals for the following roles:
- Water Security Specialist (Metro) – Lead metropolitan Adelaide water security risk assessments, provide advice for future policy and planning, influence updates to critical water allocation plans (including Mount Lofty Ranges and River Murray), and ensure we are managing our water resource risks and compliance obligations.
This ongoing, full-time role is available immediately.
- Water Security Modeller (Metro) – Deliver water security modelling, analysis, and assessments to support future planning and infrastructure investment, streamline data acquisition, and support model development.
This ongoing, full-time role is available immediately.
- Water Security Specialist (Regional) – Lead regional water security risk assessments, provide advice for future planning, influence updates to regional water allocation plans, support day-to-day supply of water within sustainable source limits, and support capital planning projects such as groundwater identification and Managed Aquifer Recharge. Although this role supports regional South Australia, it will be based at SA Water House in Adelaide. There is also the possibility for the successful candidate to spend part of their time working from our Port Lincoln, Mount Gambier or Crystal Brook offices if these locations are closer or more practical for their circumstances.
This ongoing, full-time role is available immediately.
- Principal Hydrogeologist – Provide hydrogeological leadership across SA Water, overseeing technical investigations and advice on sustainable groundwater extraction and Managed Aquifer Recharge. Drive innovation and technical excellence to support regional water security and integrated water management.
This ongoing, full-time opportunity will be available from 1 April 2026
Each of these roles work collaboratively with other SA Water business areas to enable coordinated delivery of water security outcomes over all timeframes.
