Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Associate – Water to join our Transport & Infrastructure business unit in Abu Dhabi. This senior role is ideal for a technical expert who brings deep experience in water infrastructure design, including wet utilities, hydrology, and hydraulic systems, and who has worked extensively on large-scale infrastructure and land development projects across Abu Dhabi.
As an Associate, you will serve as a key technical and managerial leader – overseeing project delivery, driving technical excellence, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and supporting the business unit’s growth strategy. You will be instrumental in shaping complex programmes, ensuring compliance with Abu Dhabi authority standards, and cultivating strong client relationships.
This role is best suited for an individual with 15+ years of industry experience, exceptional coordination capabilities, and a proven track record within Abu Dhabi’s engineering consultancy landscape.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and direct the delivery of major water and wet utilities projects, including potable water networks, stormwater drainage, foul sewerage, and irrigation/TSE systems.
- Provide senior-level technical expertise in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, wet utilities design, and sustainable water engineering solutions.
- Oversee and validate the preparation of design reports, modelling outputs, drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to ensure technical excellence.
- Ensure all designs comply with Abu Dhabi authority requirements, including ADM, ADSSC/ADDCD, ADQCC, AD Ports, and other relevant bodies.
Project & Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams across civil, environmental, transport, and structural disciplines, ensuring integrated and coordinated project delivery.
- Support project managers with strategic planning, resourcing, risk management, budgeting, and schedule oversight.
- Lead technical and coordination meetings with clients, stakeholders, and authorities.
Client & Authority Engagement
- Act as a senior technical representative during client interactions, presentations, workshops, and project reviews.
- Drive authority submission strategies and resolve technical queries with Abu Dhabi approval bodies.
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients, positioning the business for ongoing success.
Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineering teams, promoting knowledge-sharing and technical capability growth.
- Review and approve work produced by junior and senior engineers, ensuring consistency and high standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- 15+ years of proven experience in water infrastructure design, wet utilities, or hydrology—preferably within an engineering consultancy environment.
- Extensive experience delivering major water and wet utilities projects in Abu Dhabi, with deep familiarity of local authority manuals, standards, and approval processes.
- Strong capability in leading multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure and land development projects.
- Proficiency with hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools such as InfoWorks, EPANET, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, StormCAD, Civil 3D, and similar platforms.
- Excellent client-facing, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence in project delivery.
- Previous Abu Dhabi experience.
