Job Purpose
To supplement the skillset and offering of the existing SLR Africa Water and Wastewater Engineering team based in Fourways. This role will include supporting surface water modelling and engineering projects, specifically those related to flood modelling, water balance modelling, dam break and water quality modelling and more general hydrology and hydraulic modelling.
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Hydrology (or equivalent) (MSc degree will be added advantage).
- More than 3 years of relevant experience in hydrological studies in the consulting sector.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, QGIS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD.
- Ability to work and produce deliverables with limited support.
- Experience in flood risk studies and flood extent modelling.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing to travel.
Responsibilities
- Conduct water quantity/quality sampling and monitoring as part of baseline assessment.
- Conduct field work including site reconnaissance/audit and survey work, locally and internationally.
- Conduct flood line modelling and hydrological assessments through the use of HEC-RAS and other hydrology software.
- Undertake flood extent and dam breach studies.
- Undertake surface water impact assessment studies.
- Draft technical reports.
- Develop and maintain client relationships.
- Carry out business development and marketing activities.
- Project managing and administrating projects.
