Job description
- Background of the recruitment and description of the project[Job Description] Chiba University invites applications for a researcher to work on studies of observation impact assessment and observation system design in the context of numerical weather prediction (NWP).
- Work content and job descriptionDuties:
The successful candidate will conduct research on the impact of novel meteorological observations on numerical weather prediction, including observations from upcoming satellite missions and emerging platforms such as drones. The work will also involve studies of observation specifications and deployment strategies, thereby contributing to the design of next-generation observation systems. Depending on the applicant’s interests, the research may focus on one or more of the following themes:
•Development of methodologies for reducing climate projection uncertainty using Emergent Constraints with data assimilation
•Impact assessment of novel atmospheric observations and optimization of observation networks
•Development of cloud-resolving models incorporating water isotopes
•Drone-based observations of cloud and precipitation processes
•Estimation of climate model parameters using water isotope information - Assigned departmentExisting departmentsCenter for Environmental Remote Sensing,Chiba University
