Local recruitment: Digital Services Coordinator, Global Water Futures Observatories

Primary Purpose: The Digital Services Coordinator plays a key role in shaping and executing digital strategies that elevate the Global Water Futures Observatories (GWFO) brand and strengthen the University of Saskatchewan’s reputation. This position focuses on creating dynamic digital experiences that engage local, national, and international audiences in alignment with strategic communications goals. 

Nature of Work: Reporting to the GWFO Data Management Team Lead and the Director of Operations and Science, the Digital Services Coordinator ensures excellence in digital communications across web and other platforms. The role requires creativity, technical expertise, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital solutions. 

Typical Duties/Accountabilities: 

  • Develop and manage compelling online content for multiple platforms (web, social media, display screens)
  • Maintain and enhance event websites, registration systems, and abstract submission tools; design digital posters and presentations for major events
  • Coordinates and manages virtual events, webinars, and workshops by overseeing technical operations. Responsibilities include controlling presentation slides and shared content, managing audio settings, launching polls, playing videos, and organizing breakout rooms. Ensures a seamless experience so presenters can focus on delivering content and engaging with the audience
  • Support and maintain a universal calendar of GWFO activities
  • Create and integrate interactive content such as maps, live webcams, videos, infographics, and stories
  • Collaborate with USask ICT and web teams to meet technical requirements
  • Explore and implement innovative online technologies (e.g., Google Earth, Google Maps, modeling and data visualization tools)
  • Monitor analytics and report on the effectiveness of digital strategies to inform continuous improvement. 

Qualifications 

Education:  

  • A minimum undergraduate degree in computer science, marketing, communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered
  • A graduate degree in a related discipline is considered an asset. 

Experience:  

  • Minimum three years of communications or digital services experience; experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset
  • Proficiency with Cascade CMS and basic HTML/PHP programming
  • Skilled in software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in website creation, maintenance, and support
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server relational databases is an asset.

  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Customer-focused approach with responsiveness and attention to detail
  • Advanced proofreading and quality assurance skills.

 The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $53,091.00 – 82,954.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
