Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Riverine Habitat Restoration Section Manager, the incumbent supervises the Engineering, Planning and Implementation Unit and supports, oversees, plans, and implements projects and operation and maintenance tasks that furthers SWP fishery goals and meets regulatory requirements by restoring floodplains and improving fish passage.

Special Requirements
This position requires possession of a valid certificate registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Must possess a valid California Driver License in order to drive to various sites and attend meetings. Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate’s relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
The ideal candidate should demonstrate experience leading an engineering team or supervising staff, including developing and training employees and mentoring peers. They bring at least one year of experience performing civil engineering tasks such as engineering calculations, quantity estimates, cost comparisons, preparation of technical reports, and development of contract drawings and specifications, with extensive experience of three or more years preferred. They have experience evaluating the technical performance of contractors, teams, or individual employees and are committed to establishing and maintaining a positive, safe work culture. The candidate clearly communicates technical experience and has experience presenting information to external groups and partners. They have worked effectively with multidisciplinary teams and possess experience related to the operation of hydraulic infrastructure and habitat restoration projects. The candidate has experience developing, designing, or implementing infrastructure projects and working closely with contractors. Their work has been technical in nature, and they have experience teaching others technical skills related to engineering. Additionally, the candidate has analyzed data and contributed to the reporting and interpretation of technical data.
