Job Title: Project Engineer – Water & Sanitation Programs

Location: Kamrup, Assam (with travel to Nalbari and Tea Estates in Nagoan)
Salary Range: Rs 50,000 – Rs 55,000 per month including PF, Gratuity and Medical Insurance
Job Purpose:
The Civil Engineer will provide technical planning, design, supervision, and coordination support for CML’s water quality and water security programs. The role involves close collaboration with government departments (PHED/JJM Assam), academic institutions (IIT Guwahati), field teams, and communities to ensure high-quality, compliant, and sustainable infrastructure delivery.
Key Responsibilities:-
Technical Planning & Design:
• Prepare, review, and finalize civil and structural designs related to:
o Water Purification Units (Arsenic & Fluoride mitigation)
o In-Line Chlorination Systems (NaDCC Tablet based doser system)
o Water harvesting and water security structures in Tea Estates
• Develop drawings, layouts, and BOQs using AutoCAD and other relevant design tools.
• Ensure designs comply with PHED, JJM, and relevant BIS standards.
Implementation & Supervision
• Provide on-site technical supervision during construction, installation, and commissioning of systems.
• Monitor quality of civil works and ensure adherence to approved designs, timelines, and safety norms.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and field teams for smooth execution.
Coordination & Representation
• Represent CML in technical meetings with PHED, JJM Assam, IIT Guwahati, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate with district and block-level officials during project planning and execution.
• Visit Nalbari, Tea Estate locations, and CML Head Office as required for reviews, reporting, and coordination.
Documentation & Reporting:
• Prepare technical reports, site inspection notes, progress updates, and completion documents.
• Support preparation of proposals, technical notes, and presentations related to water infrastructure.
• Assist in audits, evaluations, and government reviews as needed.
Innovation & System Improvement
• Support scaling and field adaptation of the indigenous tablet-based In-Line Chlorination doser system developed by CML.
• Provide technical inputs to improve design efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• B.Tech in Civil Engineering (mandatory)
• 5–7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in:
o Water supply and sanitation projects
o Rural/urban water infrastructure
o Government or development sector projects (JJM/PHED experience preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of:
o AutoCAD
o BOQ preparation, estimation, and site supervision
• Experience working with government departments and multi-stakeholder projects is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Excellent coordination and communication abilities
• Willingness to travel extensively within Assam
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites
• Familiarity with water quality, chlorination, and groundwater-related projects will be an advantage
