CIMA Research Foundation (CIMA) is a non-profit research organisation based in Italy dedicated to advancing scientific research, technology, and higher education in environmental sciences, civil protection, disaster risk reduction, and climate resilience. Through international cooperation, capacity building projects, and applied research, CIMA works with partner institutions across Africa, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, helping to improve preparedness, institutional capabilities, and operational effectiveness in contexts facing climate and disaster challenges.
CIMA is currently seeking a Project Officer to support international capacity development activities, with a strong focus on Early Warning Systems (EWS) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). The role involves contributing to the design, coordination, and implementation of projects aimed at strengthening preparedness and response capacities in partner countries, particularly in contexts exposed to hydrometeorological hazards such as floods, droughts, and extreme weather events. The Project Officer will work closely with international institutions, national authorities, and technical partners to support the transition from early warning to early action, ensuring that technical systems are effectively integrated into operational decision-making processes for civil protection.
The position also requires hands-on involvement in capacity development processes, including field missions, technical training, and facilitation of knowledge exchange among stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction concepts.
The role, based in Savona (Italy), is well suited to professionals who enjoy working at the interface between science, technology and institutional strengthening, and who are motivated to contribute to impactful international projects that enhance resilience and preparedness in diverse contexts.
