Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Institute (WASH Institute), established in 2008, is a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing practical solutions to tackle a wide range of water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental issues in India and the neighbouring countries. WASH Institute aims to build the capacities of the sector through programs that provide a) training and academic courses, b) technical advisory and consultancy services, and c) grass roots community WASH programs.
WASH Institute has been conducting extensive training programs for government functionaries, private sector professionals, NGOs, and other practitioners with the objective of effective WASH implementation across the country. In addition, our academic campus offers Diploma and Masters level courses in sanitation, under affiliation to a leading university.
As part of our WASH Advisory program, we provide PMU services to central, state, and local governments in both urban and rural areas to support implementation of SBM, JJM, and AMRUT schemes. Our community WASH programs are currently ongoing in 15 locations across 8 states and 1 Union Territory in India.
We are a multi-disciplinary team that tackle complex multi-faceted problems of behaviour change, quality of service, and sustainability of WASH interventions. Job Summary:
The Construction Supervisor is overall responsible for field implementation of the School WASH project as per SOP of WASHi in the Barpeta and Nalbari district. The role involves maintaining Field book with measurement, Quality assurance & completion of hardware work as per expected timelines.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Carry out regular site inspections and make sure the construction gets completed as per the deadline.
• Day to Day monitoring the sites, Check whether the quality of materiel used in the sites as per SOP of WASH institute.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
• Understanding of proper safety procedures and recognition of hazards
• Should be able to handle contract disputes to materials not arriving on time.
• Scheduling regular meetings with vendors, site inspectors, managers and staff etc.
• Processing paperwork and travelling to multiple sites as required.
• Writing up reports, budgets, project plans, and presenting them to Project Officer and other staff or relevant stakeholders.
• Understand Civil engineering drawings & estimates as well as maintain site book.
• Set project goals and oversee projects to completion, schedule and track assignments. Handle sensitive information with confidentiality
• Any other office related jobs suggested or as required by Project Officer for the Project.
Professional Requirements:
• Diploma /Degree in Civil Engineering department from a recognize institution.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year Work experience (freshers can also apply) preferably in government/NGO projects (School WASH/sanitation sectors will be an advantage).
• Technical Skills – Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Office, MS Word.
• Understanding of water and sanitation themes and issues is desirable and must have strong interest to work in the Social Sector.
• Fluency in regional languages.
• Adequate competence on written and spoken English
• Willingness and ability to travel
• Ability to work in teams
• Possess valid Driving License and own personal Two-wheeler (Mandatory Requirement).
