Local recruitment: PhD Opportunity at the University of Cordoba -- Research Topic: Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) for River Hydraulic Modeling

We are seeking a highly motivated doctoral candidate to join the University of Cordoba to conduct research on the cutting-edge field of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) applied to hydraulic modeling in fluvial systems.

This project will develop the technological tools, based on artificial intelligence and advance computing, needed for real-time warning systems in fluvial systems. This PhD project employs a hybrid research framework, involving experimental, theoretical, and numerical research, to elevate the student’s proficiency to international standards of excellence in engineering.

This position offers the possibility of a Joint PhD (Cotutelle) agreement with the University of Bristol.

Funding will be obtained through a competitive application process through the prestigious FPU scholarships. The scholarships support the candidate’s stipend and training in doctoral programmes. The selected candidate will receive full support for the application process.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Academic Excellence: Applicants must hold an undergraduate GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 8.0 out of 10 (or equivalent) in an engineering background.
  • Education: Candidates must (i) have completed a Master’s degree by the time of application or (ii) be registered in a Master’s degree during 25/26 with a requirement to finish it by summer 2026.
