- Background of the recruitment and description of the project Kumamoto University launched the âProgram for Forming Japanâs Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS)â in fiscal year 2025. As part of this initiative, research projects contributing to the realization of sustainable water resource management are being promoted. - Work content and job descriptionYou will engage in research activities promoted by the Hydrosphere Environmental Science Laboratory, which participates in J-PEAKS. Specifically, we seek researchers to engage in: – Modeling-based analysis of groundwater flow and material dynamics in the Kumamoto region – Numerical analysis of water cycle variability using hydrological and meteorological data at the national scale – Analysis and numerical modeling of environmental changes at the national scale using various water quality parameters and stable isotopes. We welcome applications from individuals with interest and experience in numerical analysis, including water quality/isotope analysis and machine learning, and who have experience publishing academic papers in these fields.

- Education and Degree RequirementsPh.D. / DoctorThe person must hold Ph.D., or expect to obtain the degree by the time of appointment
- Work experienceIndividuals with an interest in research fields related to Earth and Environmental Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, or Information Sciencesâincluding meteorology, hydrology, and civil engineeringâand possessing the ability to conduct research independently. Proficiency in English is also required.
