The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cyprus announces two full-time (140 hours/month) Post-Doctoral positions in Hydrology, funded through a research program on Ecohydrological Modelling and Large-Scale Hydrological Data Analytics. 
The research program involves close collaboration and exchange visits with members of EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) and Imperial College London (London, UK). 
The filling of the positions is subject to the availability of funding. Applicants need not be citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. Applicants should, however, ensure before applying, that in case they are selected, they will be residing in Cyprus on a full-time basis during the employment period; submission of application implies acceptance of this condition. 
🔬 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
The Post-Doctoral Researcher is expected to conduct research in ecohydrological modelling (Position 1) or large-scale hydrological data analytics (Position 2). The work will focus on advancing understanding of hydrological and water resource dynamics, with emphasis on the Global South (case studies include Peru, Ecuador, Ghana, and India). 
He/she is also expected to participate in the dissemination activities of the program via presentations and talks in conferences/workshops and seminars at other Institutions. 
🎓 QUALIFICATIONS 
• Applicants must have been awarded their Ph.D. before the starting time of their employment through this program. 
• Candidates with backgrounds in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geography, or other quantitative fields are welcome. 
Additional qualifications: 
• Strong programming skills, especially Python and MATLAB 
• Proven publication record in reputable peer-reviewed journals 
Preferred experience: 
• Expertise in physics-based hydrological modelling (Position 1) or hydrological statistical analysis, ideally with an emphasis on machine learning (Position 2) 
• Deep knowledge of hydrology (considered an asset) 
Knowledge of Greek is not required. 
💼 RIGHTS/OBLIGATIONS 
Postdoctoral researchers have the following rights and obligations: 
(a) They have the right to work under safe and healthy conditions. (b) They can use the equipment and the facilities of the University (according to the relevant Usage Rules). (c) They will work under the supervision of the project coordinator, to whom they are accountable. (d) There will be regular progress review meetings (every four months); continuation of the contract is subject to satisfactory performance.

Benefits

📅 EMPLOYMENT TERMS 
The position is on a one-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension for up to five years, based on satisfactory performance. 
The monthly gross salary is equal to €3,500–€4,500, depending on experience (equivalent to €42,000–€54,000 annually). Employee contributions will be deducted from the above 
amount. The position does not include a 13th Salary bonus. Starting time is negotiable with ideal start dates March-April 2026. 
The position includes: 
• International travel opportunities to project partners in Europe, Africa, South America, India, and Southeast Asia. 
• Funding for travel to national and international conferences. 
• A research-only appointment (no teaching or administrative duties).
