Working with national and local governments, development partners and NGOs, ECOPSIS supports its clients in tackling the multiple dimensions of resilient services: the environmental context, including climate hazards, socio-economic conditions, institutional and financial arrangements as well as organisational capacity.
The Opportunity
ECOPSIS is looking for a Water and Sanitation Consulting Intern to join its team. The position involves helping the team to provide a diverse set of consultancy services, as well as assisting with business development and operations. The role will involve supporting ECOPSIS to carrying out a range of activities, such as:
- Feasibility studies (technical, institutional and financial)
- Programme and projects design and evaluations
- Climate risks assessments
- Financial analysis and business case development
- Policy and strategy development
- Technical assistance to service providers
Specific tasks will include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Desk research
- Quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Assisting with the development and production of reports
- Taking part in meetings with clients and sector stakeholders, online or in-person
The successful candidate will also assist with general activities related to business development, communication and project management, with input and support from ECOPSIS senior staff. Specific tasks in these areas include:
- Development of proposals
- Posting relevant communications on ECOPSIS’ website and LinkedIn
- Development of proposal documents and bids relating to specific calls for tender
- Participation in team meetings
- Providing ad hoc support on various technical tasks
The Essentials
- Master’s degree in a related discipline such as development studies, economics, public policy, water science, engineering, and environmental studies
- High proficiency in Microsoft Applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
- Flexibility, self-motivation and excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work remotely
- Fluency in English
Great to Have
- Fluency in French
- Additional language (Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred)
- Professional experience in the water and sanitation sector
Location
The successful candidate will be required to work either in Lausanne (if employed by our Swiss company) or in London (if employed by our UK company) on a frequent basis, with the majority of the time working remotely. If employed by our Swiss company, the candidate can be Swiss resident or French resident (as cross-border worker).
