This is what you can expect as junior advisor/researcher hydraulics
As Hydraulic advisor/researcher your focus will be on hydraulics in industry applications, such as pipelines and pumps for waste- and drinkingwater and heating and cooling networks, as well as hydraulics for infrastructure applications such as weirs and shipping locks. Together with your colleagues you will help to ensure the safety and functionality not only as objects in themselves, but also as part of the overall water system.
From IJmuiden to the Middle East, you tackle all kinds of challenges and collaborate with clients like Rijkswaterstaat and leading international engineering firms. Typical questions from clients are to assist in design by applying our dedicated knowledge.
Your task is to advise them by thorough research. How? Taks include:
- Setting up (hydraulic) numerical models and analyse data;
- Assist with and conduct field measurements and scale model experiments in our Hydro hall to build a strong foundation in applied hydraulics. For example, in our Alpha Loop and IOS basins;
- Working together on writing attractive research and project proposals;
- You assist with presenting results by writing advisory reports or publications;
- You are present at meetings and presentations and work closely with stakeholders.
What we’re looking for
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Applied Physics, Hydraulic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Geophysics.
- Affinity with applied fluid dynamics and hydraulics.
- A proactive, independent mindset with a “getting things done” mentality.
- Strong analytical skills and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to learn and explore a wide range of tools, software, and techniques.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Dutch.
