  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $149,739 to $173,174 + super

The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.

The Reconnecting River Country Program (RRCP) is seeking to appoint a Manager, Program Coordination on a temporary full-time basis to 31 December 2026.

About You

The Manager, Program Coordination leads and provides program-level management, coordination and support for the Reconnecting River Country Program (RRCP) leadership team. It will ensure high-quality responses often within short-turnaround periods. The role oversees program coordination, and planning, including staff capacity assessments and training. It also involves proactively engaging with key internal and external stakeholders to assist in achieving program milestones, while aligning with the delivery of broader program objectives and government priorities.

Key accountabilities of the role include: Manager Program Coordination RRCP

  • Lead the day-to-day coordination of the Reconnecting River Country Program, including managing ad hoc requests, strategic planning, risk escalation, and leadership meetings.
  • Manage high-level briefings, reports, and correspondence (including ministerial and Cabinet), turning complex information into clear, timely advice.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with internal teams, government partners, and community stakeholders to keep the program on track.
  • Oversee workforce planning, staff capability, training, and development to ensure the team is resourced and supported.
  • Lead ad hoc projects, involving input from across RRCP teams, partners and key departmental staff  to deliver outcomes on time, on budget, and to quality standards in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Navigate competing priorities, sensitive issues, and diverse stakeholder views with sound judgment, diplomacy, and a strong strategic focus.

Key Knowledge and Experience

  • Relevant experience in one or more of the following fields: project or program management, rural water management, assurance and governance, legal, and/or government policy.
  • Practical knowledge of the working of government and its processes.
  • Demonstrated experience advising Leadership teams.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in environmental management or related discipline and/or relevant work-related experience.
