Key Responsibilities
1. Role Objective
The Principal Consultant – Water Management & Digital Transformation will provide technical leadership in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing digital solutions for industrial water systems. The role integrates process engineering, and industrial automation to optimize water and resource performance, achieve sustainability targets, and deliver quantifiable operational improvements across global industrial sites.
2. Core Scope of Work
2.1 Water Balance & System Understanding
- Strong understanding of Water Balance concepts – inflow/outflow mapping, mass balance calculations, and system losses.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive water audits to identify inefficiencies and potential reuse streams.
- Experience in developing dynamic water balance models integrated with process data and IoT sensors.
- Skilled in data-driven visualization of plant-level and network-level water balance using digital tools.
2. Leak Detection & Loss Management
- Hands-on experience in Leak Management programs using IoT, flow metering, and hydraulic modeling.
- Expertise in real-time monitoring and predictive leak detection through analytics and AI models.
- Ability to prioritize leak repairs based on economic and operational impact analysis.
- Familiar with pipeline integrity management systems (PIMS) and acoustic monitoring technologies.
3. Water Optimization & Efficiency
- Proven ability to optimize water usage in industrial processes, cooling towers, and utilities.
- Experience in reducing fresh water intake through recycling, reuse, and recovery projects.
- Implementation of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD/NZLD) systems and advanced treatment technologies.
- Skilled in energy-water nexus optimization, balancing power and resource consumption.
- Use of digital twins, predictive analytics, and AI/ML for process optimization.
4. Oil & Gas Sector Exposure
- Knowledge of produced water treatment, reinjection systems, and oily water separation.
- Experience in water management for refineries, upstream and downstream operations.
- Familiarity with API separators, membrane filtration, flotation (DAF), and evaporation systems.
- Understanding of regulatory and environmental compliance specific to the Oil & Gas industry.
5. Industrial Digital Transformation
- Integration of IoT devices and sensor networks for real-time monitoring and control.
- Experience with MES / Historian systems (e.g., AVEVA PI, Wonderware, or OSIsoft).
- Development of dashboards and KPIs for water, energy, and sustainability tracking.
- Implementation of AI/ML-based predictive maintenance and anomaly detection for water assets.
- Familiar with cloud-based SaaS platforms for digital water management.
6. Sustainability & Compliance
- Expertise in sustainability reporting, benchmarking, and life-cycle assessment.
- Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, ISO 14046 (Water Footprint), and ISO 50001 standards.
- Experience in carbon and water intensity reduction initiatives for industrial facilities.
- Collaboration with EHS and sustainability teams to drive resource efficiency goals.
7. Consulting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ability to translate technical findings into business value for clients and leadership.
- Skilled in conducting client workshops, training sessions, and capability-building programs.
- Experience in multi-site rollout of digital solutions and stakeholder coordination.
- Strong presentation, documentation, and executive communication skills.
5. Educational & Professional Credentials
B.Tech – Chemical Engineering
Preferable On Site – Utility Section Water Management Hands On experience of 5+ years.
