Overview

As a senior technical lead within our Land Development team, you will drive the end‑to‑end design and delivery of wet utility infrastructure—including water supply, foul and surface drainage, stormwater management, and flood mitigation—across feasibility, planning, detailed design, and construction stages. You’ll ensure compliance with UK regulations and design standards (e.g., DMRB, SuDS, Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance) and deliver high‑quality hydraulic and hydrological modelling, CAD/BIM coordination (Civil3D, WaterGems, SewerGems), and Bill of Quantities preparation. You will manage programmes, budgets, and risks, mentor and guide junior engineers, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, local authorities, regulators, and statutory bodies to secure approvals and support asset handover. Chartered status (CEng/MICE/CEng or equivalent) and proven experience in land‑led development or major infrastructure projects are essential.

Your role

  • Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree in engineering from an institute of repute.
  • 10+ years of experience in the Water & Wastewater Industry.
  • Wet utilities design (storm, foul water, Potable water and TSE) for UK, Ireland Middle East and other regions.
  • Familiarization of international codes for US, Canada, UK, Middle East will be preferred.
  • Experience of major Infrastructure projects at Master plan, Concept and Detailed Design stages.
  • Hands on experience of various software’s like InfoDrainage, CausewayFlow, MicroDrainage, CivilStorm, Sewergems/Watergems, PCSWMM etc. Working knowledge of BIM platforms like Civil3D, MicroStation and/or Open Roads/ Inroads/ MX Road, Revit. Navisworks etc.
  • Clear knowledge of work procedures, and ability to brief project team.
  • Good written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Positive Attitude and eagerness to learn and use new water related design software’s, tools and processes for automation and digital efficiency as per the project and business requirement.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, seniors, team members and clients.
  • A team player and work in collaboration.
  • Chartered member or working towards chartership (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent).

About you

  • Develop Concept, Preliminary, Detailed design, related calculations specification and documentation.
  • Wide exposure & technical knowledge on SuD’s design principles and Strom water management solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in creating and checking pavement design for rural roads and small urban roads
  • Lead and manage single utility projects and work as discipline lead for multi utility projects
  • Develop and inspect hydraulic models. Use the design knowledge to optimise and develop options for the storm drainage schemes.
  • Develop sustainable solutions and try for carbon low designs working towards NetZero.
  • Multi Discipline coordination’s’and coordination’s with LPOs and Clients.
  • Experience of CDE- ProjectWise, BIM 360, MS teams, SharePoint sites etc.
  • Develop/Check 3D models/ drawing, components and interface between design and BIM software’s.
  • Experience with Utility Clash inspection and Clash resolution
  • Developing, improving design tools, checklists and coordination with GTC digital teams.
  • Support in team development and skill enhancement.
  • Apply AtkinsRéalis Quality, Safety & Environmental (QSE) standards and Business Management System (BMS).
