WASH Coordinator – South Sudan Programme

Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is an ecumenical, diaconal, humanitarian and non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) mandated by churches and Christian organizations in Norway to work for global justice. NCA has been present in South Sudan since 1972, focusing on projects including Peacebuilding, Reproductive Health, WASH, and Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Position Summary
The WASH Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating designated WASH programs in South Sudan. This role involves providing technical leadership, managing program implementation, and ensuring all activities align with global best practices and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Management: Oversee assessments, design, implementation, and monitoring of WASH projects.
- Coordination and Advocacy: Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to ensure coordinated WASH interventions.
- Capacity Building: Develop and facilitate training for staff, partners, and community members on WASH practices.
Main Tasks
- Lead the development of WASH program plans, budgets, proposals, and concepts.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting on WASH program activities and outcomes.
- Coordinate WASH assessments and research to inform program design.
- Oversee the implementation of cross-cutting activities in PSEA and AAP.
- Develop and deliver training on sustainable and climate-smart WASH practices.
- Manage staff under direct supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Public Health Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in WASH programming.
- At least 3 years in a coordination or managerial role.
- Strong understanding of SPHERE, WHO, UNICEF, and national WASH standards.
- Experience with projects funded by OCHA, ECHO, NORAD, and UNICEF.
