We are on the hunt for a talented Senior Rivers Engineer to join our well-respected Rivers and Drainage Engineering team here at Marlborough District Council. This is an opportunity to enhance your engineering skills in a diverse and challenging environment.
The purpose of the role is to assist the Rivers & Draining Engineering Team in delivering key infrastructure projects that support the ongoing provision of flood protection to Marlborough residents. You will lead and provide expertise to ensure the successful delivery of various Flood Scheme Resilience Improvements projects, meeting quality standards, budget, and deadlines.
This is a permanent full-time role of 40 hours per week based in Blenheim, but working across various sites depending on the needs of the team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and making a positive contribution in our region caring for natural resources.

Ko ngā wheako ōu | About you
Our desired candidate will have a minimum of 5 years relevant technical experience in the fields of rivers, drainage, civil engineering, hydraulics, hydrology and water resources engineering. This experience will be supported by a tertiary qualification in engineering – minimum of Bachelor of Engineering Civil Engineering, or related degree, accredited with Engineering New Zealand; and either a Chartered Professional Engineer, or actively working towards professional status. You will also display a skilful approach to communicating with a wide range of communities/ individuals.
However, we are also looking for someone with a proven ability to find practical engineering solutions to problems. Experienced in project and contract management with a strong working Health and Safety, quality, and environmental best practice, along with an understanding of the Resource Management Act.
