Local recruitment: Project Engineer (water treatment)

Oxyle AG

Schlieren, Switzerland 🇨🇭

100 % workload

Oxyle is an award-winning Swiss clean-tech startup, founded in 2020 to solve one of the most pressing environmental and public health challenges of our time. We are looking for a committed project Engineer with a background in industrial water treatment project engineering to guide our customer project engineering team.

Our mission is to restore and protect our bodies of water from PFAS, down to the last drop. PFAS, often referred to as Forever Chemicals, are a group of more than 10,000 persistent and toxic man-made substances polluting our water, soils, and food. Our breakthrough destruction technology permanently degrades challenging PFAS compounds from wastewater. No two wastewaters are alike, so our solutions aren’t either. We design complete treatment systems by integrating our core technology with tailored approaches to ensure optimal performance.

Join a purpose-driven team tackling one of the world’s most urgent environmental challenges. Shape how PFAS destruction technologies are deployed across industries — and help protect our planet, one drop at a time.

The opportunity

The Deployment Team brings Oxyle’s technology to life — turning lab innovation into real-world impact. From understanding customer challenges to designing, piloting, and scaling treatment systems on-site, the team ensures every solution performs reliably in the field.

As Project Engineer, you will be the technical lead for customer projects — from first technical contact to pilot trials and full-scale installations. You will work closely with the customer to understand their needs and objectives, plan solution validation trials, draft customized processes and technical proposals. Reporting directly to the Head of Deployment, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, R&D and Commercial teams while ensuring that every project delivers measurable impact and satisfying solutions to the customer.

Will you join us in protecting the future of our waters?

Your key responsibilities

  • Be the primary technical contact for customers, understand their needs and objectives and ensure success of our most crucial projects.
  • Plan for lab and pilot tests to inform the technical proposals and provide convincing data for customer acquisition.
  • Craft technical proposals for pilot, first of a kind installations and full-scale installations.
  • Ensure in-depth risk and time management of customer projects
  • Design and evaluate PFAS treatment solutions to meet customer needs in close collaboration with them and Oxyle’s commercial, engineering, development and lab teams.
  • Deploy and operate prototypes, pilots and full-scale units on-site with customers.
  • Assess trial outcomes, disseminating both to the customer and internally. Ensure learnings are passed on.

What you need to bring to the role

  • MSc or equivalent in environmental or (chemical) process engineering.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with industrial water treatment (e.g., RO, NF, MBR, AOP, adsorption).
  • Knowledge in water treatment process design, system sizing, and performance optimization.
  • Solid grasp of cost, value, and risk drivers in project delivery and customer operations in industrial wastewater treatment.
  • Familiar with water treatment technologies and their operational challenges (e.g., AOPs, adsorption, filtration).
  • Skilled at clear, technical communication with customers as well as commercial, R&D, and engineering teams.
  • Have a Swiss working permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland.
  • Full professional proficiency in English required.
  • Fluency in French and/or German language preferred.

Your mindset

  • Purpose-driven: You care deeply about sustainability and making measurable environmental impact.
  • Hands-on team player: You work with the team with clarity and are not afraid to be close to the action.
  • Operationally sharp: You plan carefully and execute with precision and stay calm under pressure.
  • Collaborative: You build trust and alignment across diverse technical and non-technical teams.
  • Adaptive: You embrace change and thrive in the fast pace of a growing startup.
  • Customer-first: You approach every project with a commitment to quality, service, and long-term success.

What we offer

  • Modern, well-equipped office spaces and laboratory infrastructure designed to support both collaboration and focus.
