The Conservation Project Coordinator (Coordinator) provides strategic project support to The Nature Conservancy’s New Mexico Business Unit. The Coordinator advances TNC’s conservation work by providing project management support on small to large-scale projects that may span multiple programs and/or project managers. Drawing on strong organizational skills and project management experience, the position will drive project implementation, coordination and collaboration.
We’re Looking for You:
The Coordinator will support all New Mexico conservation programs: Living Rivers, Healthy Forests, Resilient Watersheds, Connected Wildlands and Habitable Climate. This role will be responsible for ensuring project teams are well-coordinated and that project deliverables are completed on time and within budget. This position will apply their project coordinator and people skills by managing project team logistics, tracking team progress, contributing to the team culture of collaborative problem solving, and supporting planning and logistics for effective meetings. The Coordinator will also support with developing documentation, proposals and reports; assisting with the drafting, routing and tracking of contracts and agreements; tracking and driving timelines; and/or enhancing the systems and tools used by the BU. The Coordinator will use project management knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative spirit to enable teams to advance conservation outcomes and communicate effectively. This role may require occasional evening or weekend work depending on project needs.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience in natural resource management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience completing tasks independently concerning timeline(s), organizing time and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
- Experience with communication via written, spoken and graphical means in English.
- Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
- Experience in project management.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing project budgets, timelines and deliverables, including the use of project management software.
- Experience managing and facilitating teams, including managing without authority, team building and conflict resolution.
- Communicates effectively with diverse individuals and teams to achieve results.
- Distills and analyzes information to ensure effective coordinator, plan key activities and solve problems.
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, land management and project management.
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel within New Mexico and southern Colorado, including overnight trips.
Salary Information:
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $61,540-$65,160. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
