Description of WorkThis position is responsible for the coordination of the Ambient Monitoring System (AMS) Program and the Random Ambient Monitoring System (RAMS) Program for the Winston-Salem region.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate the Ambient Stream Monitoring Program and the RAMS Program.

Coordinate the WSRO ambient stream monitoring program.

Collect all monthly ambient stream samples and field parameters at all stations in the Winston-Salem Region.

Maintain all sample records, calibration sheets, and other documentation applicable to the ambient stream monitoring program.

Collect all monthly RAMS samples and field parameters at all stations in the Winston-Salem Region.

Maintain water quality meters in good working order, ensure that sampling supply inventories are up to date, order sample bottles and preservatives.

Recruitment Range: $45,926.00 – $51,257.00

The Division of Water Resources (DWR) is responsible for protecting North Carolina’s drinking, surface and ground water for all waterbodies including lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands, and aquifers. This environmental stewardship is accomplished through actions including issuing permits, investigations, regulatory compliance and enforcement, monitoring and field assessments, certifications, laboratory analysis and testing, planning, water quality standards management, educational outreach, and other efforts. The Division comprises five Sections: Water Quality Regional Operations; Water Sciences; Public Water Supply; Water Quality Permitting and Water Planning.  This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. Minimum Education and Experience
