Local recruitment: Environmental Analyst – Collaboration Coordinator

NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time collaboration coordinator to support the Hudson River Estuary Management Program (HREMP). This position will take a collaborative approach to support interdisciplinary research priorities, communications and initiatives across estuary program areas.

What You Will Do
As a collaboration coordinator, your work will fall into four focus areas:

  1. Facilitating program communications across program partners by collaborating with other communications staff on strategy, content, reporting, web maintenance, and newsletters.
  2. Engaging with partners and stakeholders by remaining current on coastal management issues, identifying information needs, and ensuring the smooth transfer and translation of scientific information and data to stakeholders.
  3. Implementing training for decision makers by continuing existing training program efforts, evaluating audience needs and priority topics, identifying training gaps and opportunities, and facilitating science forums.
  4. Facilitating meetings and work groups by establishing the meeting objectives, making site arrangements, preparing agendas, publicizing the event, leading question and answer sessions with the audience, and evaluating if the meeting objectives were met.

Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a skilled writer who is passionate about communicating science and environmental management to support coastal decision making. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social science, hydrology, geology, environmental science, earth science, environmental engineering, watershed science or management, natural resources, communications or related field.
  • At least three years of related professional experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills and experience and comfort in public speaking.
  • Experience working with researchers and policy makers, and capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within diverse groups.
  • Solid understanding of estuarine ecology and coastal issues.

Candidates with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.

Logistics
This full-time position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based in New Paltz, NY and Staatsburg, NY. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting and will require some travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. After six months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid telecommuting work schedule, subject to approval and program needs.

What We Offer
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $60,000 to $67,000. NEIWPCC offers an outstanding comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees:
