Salary Range: $66,802.00 To $122,894.00 Annually

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, performs hydrologic and hydraulic modeling in support of planning and design efforts, and assists with QA/QC review of models and technical deliverables as needed. Supports the design of parks, trails, and nature-based solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Performs engineering design tasks and helps coordinate associated investigations. This may include design calculations, development of detailed hydrologic and hydraulic models, and nature base solutions design.
  • Develops and reviews engineering reports, plans, and other engineering assessments.
  • Develops and reviews hydrologic and hydraulic models for compliance with professional and FEMA standards.
  • Analyzes engineering data, develops effective solutions, and prepares technical reports.
  • Develops and reviews spatial data related to water resources using GIS.
  • May perform field visits in support of modeling, design, and condition assessments.
  • Manages assigned engineering projects to include budget preparation, utilization of resources, project management, and reporting. 
  • Coordinates, communicates, and documents activities with other departments, project partners, surveyors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Works with consultants and coordinates the work of consultants.
  • Performs related work as required.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

  • This position does not directly supervise any employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • An Undergraduate Degree from an ABET-accredited college or university with emphasis in Civil or  Environmental Engineering or relevant discipline and the ability to become certified as an Engineer-in-Training in the State of Texas within two (2) years of employment, may qualify as a Graduate Engineer.
  • Undergraduate Degree and registered as an Engineer-in-Training in the State of Texas may qualify as an Engineer in Training; Preferred: Graduate Degree with an emphasis in Civil, or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or Water Resources and two (2) or more years of progressively responsible engineering experience in all phases of engineering including modeling, drafting, surveying, design. 
  • Undergraduate Degree and registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas with three (3) or more years of progressively responsible engineering experience in all phases of engineering including modeling, drafting, surveying, design, and appropriate continuing education, may qualify as a Professional Engineer; Preferred: Graduate Degree with an emphasis in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or Water Resources or relevant discipline. 
  • Required Licenses or Certifications

β˜’  Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
