The Opportunity
Arup’s design and engineering skills shape a full spectrum of water solutions. We see water in context. From delivering water infrastructure to advising on natural catchments, we consider commercial, economic, environmental and social implications.
Arup’s global reach and keen insight into the entire water cycle, and our practical experience in contrasting climates and conditions, brings oversight to our work in water – including infrastructure design and engineering, asset management, flood mitigation, sustainable water management, water strategies and research.
All-round thinking is the product of our specialist water engineers, project managers, management consultants and environmental and water scientists working seamlessly together – and in partnership with clients.
Stormwater Management
Arup’s Water team in Sheffield work on a broad range of projects associated with stormwater. We help communities and businesses to adapt when they are affected by too little or too much water; it may be polluted or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. We are civil engineers, natural scientists and more, and we have skills and expertise in flood risk management, complex hydraulic modelling, nature restoration and infrastructure projects.
We are passionate about the water sector and support a wide range of projects through different Arup portfolios. We work with different Arup teams across the world to deliver holistic solutions for nature and people. Our key areas of work include integrated hydraulic modelling, city-scale master planning, catchment science and management including nature-based solutions, flood risk management and blue-green infrastructure.
Is this role right for you?
We are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
- Enthusiasm for a career in Water, underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our sector and work
- Minimum of a Bachelors in Water, Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geophysics, OR;
- Masters or post-graduate Degree in a similar Water related discipline.
- Studying, or have studied, a course accredited by ICE, CIWEM or equivalent
- A good understanding of the theoretical approach and practical application within the Water sector
- Possess a strong working knowledge of common software and digital tools, and demonstrate an ability to learn new software within a working environment
- Additional experience with coding languages, digital development, and use of specialist software would be an advantage
- Have an analytical thought process
- Contribute to improve our existing ways of working; new ideas, tools, process
