Our Water Quality department provides advice to shipowners, operators, and shipyards around the world on safe drinking water on board. Due to our growing market, both nationally and internationally, we are looking to strengthen our team.

What will you do?

Are you a recent graduate or at the start of your career, and looking for a job where you will be trained to become a specialist? Are you interested in water quality, technology, and do you enjoy working in a dynamic environment with a maritime character? Then we are looking for you!

We offer a unique traineeship of approximately 6–8 months as a Water Sampling Trainee. During this traineeship, you will be trained step by step to become a fully qualified Water Quality Consultant within our Safe Water On Board (SWOB) concept. After this period, you will join one of our consultants to gain practical experience. This way, you will gradually learn what your future responsibilities will look like and what is required to work according to the SWOB principles.

You will start as a (Water) Sampling Technician, a practical and educational role in which you will:

  • Go on board ships and offshore platforms in the Netherlands (mainly Europoort) and Belgium (Antwerp)
  • Take water samples from various tapping points
  • Occasionally assist our service engineers with minor maintenance on installations, such as UV disinfection systems
  • Get to know our clients, the maritime and offshore market, life on board, and the challenges of water management up close

After this initial phase, you will progress to the role of Junior Water Quality Consultant, where you will work alongside an experienced consultant and learn:

  • How to perform audits and prepare and update Water Safety Plans (WSPs)
  • How to advise clients on safe drinking water on board
  • Which laws and regulations apply (such as WHO guidelines and the Dutch Drinking Water Act)
  • Ultimately, you will independently conduct inspections, risk analyses, and training sessions for clients around the world.

What will you learn?

  • Carrying out audits and preparing Water Safety Plans (WSPs)
  • Providing training sessions for clients both in the Netherlands and abroad
  • Advising clients on drinking water quality and offering solutions to problems
  • Staying up to date with relevant national and international regulations
  • Acquiring new clients and following up on customer inquiries
  • Preparing visit reports and client summaries

Who are you?

  • At least MBO level 4 working and thinking ability
  • Interest in the maritime sector and sustainability
  • VCA VOL certificate (preferred) or willingness to obtain it in the short term
  • Valid driver’s license (category B)
  • Flexible and not tied to a 9-to-5 mentality
  • Good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written
  • Team player
  • Ambitious
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Proactive attitude
  • Result-oriented
  • Strong social and communication skills
  • Willingness to obtain the required offshore certificates, such as NOGEPA/HUET
