PhD Opportunity in Precision Water Management

I’m excited to share that our Sustainable Digital Agriculture Lab at University of Missouri-Columbia is looking for a motivated Ph.D. student to join our research team starting in Spring or Summer 2026! This position focuses on precision water management, combining field-based research with cutting-edge technologies in sensing, data analytics, and irrigation management.

We’re seeking candidates with an M.S. degree (or expected by Spring 2026) in soil science, plant science, agricultural or biological systems engineering, agricultural technology, computer science, electrical engineering, or related disciplines. Experience with water stress and irrigation management in cropping systems is essential.

Preferred skills include sensor system integration and evaluation, and familiarity with remote/proximal sensing, computer vision, IoT, or big data analytics. The ideal candidate will enjoy both field and analytical work, collaborate in a multidisciplinary research environment, and be eager to publish and present research at national and international conferences.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with university faculty, USDA-ARS scientists, and students on impactful projects that advance sustainable water and agricultural management.
If this sounds like a good fit, please send your CV, statement of interest, unofficial transcripts, and contact information for three references to jasmine.neupane@missouri.edu.

Feel free to share this post or reach out if you have any questions!
