Lyngby
Full-time Permanent
Hybrid
Do you have a clear vision for developing the water and climate adaptation business in COWI together with colleagues across borders? Do you want to facilitate engagement, professional development, and performance for around 170 dedicated employees? Is your managerial background extensive, along with a commitment to contributing to sustainable initiatives? Then join us as Head of Engineering for Water and Climate Adaptation at COWI.
Create the solutions that will enable a better tomorrow
We are looking for a Head of Engineering for Water and Climate Adaptation to represent a diverse team of professionals with deep technical knowledge of all aspects of water and climate adaptation. In close cooperation with heads of discipline, project managers, technical directors and our business development organisation, you will be responsible for developing our business within water and climate adaptation — covering areas such as urban and coastal climate adaptation, water and wastewater infrastructure, treatment, water resource management, and groundwater solutions for infrastructure projects.
As Head of Engineering, you will join the senior leadership team in Water & Environment, where we focus on collaborative teamwork and shared progress. You will be part of a culture where leadership is about inspiring, coaching, and enabling teams to reach their full potential. You cultivate a culture where collaboration, learning, and development thrive — ensuring that employees are both engaged and capable in a complex and rapidly evolving field.
In the role as Head of Engineering, you will:
- Guide and role model according to COWI’s values and leadership behaviors
- Support optimal project delivery and strong financial performance by ensuring proper staffing, resolving technical challenges, and participating in customer and senior project meetings.
- Stay up to date and define overall needs for technical development across disciplines, setting plans for competence development and talent acquisition
- Translate growth plans and strategic goals into concrete resource plans together with other COWI units and design center managers.
- Supervise, spar with, and manage the performance of your team of technical directors and heads of disciplines, ensuring their ability to perform and grow
- Build engagement and enable a motivated, diverse, and inclusive culture with a focus on professional and personal development that sets COWI up for sustainable growth.
Your abilities are the key to our growth.
Making meaningful progress in this role starts with your ability to collaborate effectively with the people around you — colleagues, partners, and customers alike. You build lasting relationships by acting with integrity, showing respect, and delivering on your promises. You are curious by nature and continuously seek new insights and better ways to improve efficiency.
You take a coaching approach to leadership, empowering your leaders to grow and thrive while creating a productive and supportive culture. As Head of Engineering, you promote an inclusive and motivating environment that ensures psychological safety and effective collaboration across disciplines.
On top of that, you will have:
- A degree in engineering or a related field
- Solid leadership experience in empowering team and individual improvement
- Advanced technical understanding within water and climate adaptation, such as water and wastewater infrastructure, treatment, urban and coastal adaptation, or water resource management
- Experience in working with customers, markets, and project delivery
- Professional proficiency in Danish and English, both written and spoken.
