Job Description | The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Tennessee State University invites applications for a 9 month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Water Resources Engineering, with an anticipated start date of Spring 2026. We seek an outstanding scholar with a strong background in water resources and/or environmental engineering who is enthusiastic about collaborative, transdisciplinary research and deeply committed to Undergraduate and Graduate instruction and specialized graduate education. Primary teaching areas include Water/Wastewater Engineering, Hydrology, Hydraulics, Water Quality, and Environmental Impacts. The successful candidate is expected to engage with external partners across local, regional, and federal agencies and industry to build productive research and educational collaborations. Responsibilities · Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in water resources and environmental engineering. · Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. · Develop and maintain a sponsored research program. · Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. · Provide service to the department, college, and university, and engage with industry and professional organizations. |
Minimum Qualifications | · Earned doctorate in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date. · Evidence of scholarly potential (or record) in research, publications, and competitive external funding commensurate with rank. · Demonstrated excellence or clear potential in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills. · Knowledge of ABET accreditation processes. · Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure or eligibility to obtain P.E. is preferred. Applicants must include a one-page statement with examples of achievements that clearly articulate how their academic skills and experience will contribute to the department’s development in teaching, research, and service, along with plans for productive scholarly research and teaching in related areas. |
