🚨 Open Ph.D. positions at Hydroclimate–Society Lab (Fall 2026) 🚨
The Hydroclimate–Society Lab (https://hc2x.github.io/) at the University of Manitoba (Canada) is inviting applications for three Ph.D. positions starting in Fall 2026 (September).
Our research integrates geospatial data science, Earth observation, climate forecast, and AI/ML to understand and address the impacts of climate extremes on hazards, agriculture, and society. Students will join a highly interdisciplinary team and collaborate on real-world climate and sustainability challenges.
🔍 Research Areas include:
• Climate forecasts and SWOT satellite data for water management
• Socio-environmental impacts of extreme heat and wildfires
• Developing climate data-driven hazard footprints
• Designing resilience metrics to inform policy triggers
• Crop yield monitoring and forecasting using Earth Observation
• Seamless sub-seasonal to decadal prediction of crop productivity
