Description
Technical expertise:
• Design and Lead technical expertise required in flood and stormwater projects;
• Provide knowledge and experience-based competency to perform discipline-specific consultancy services, such as performing hydrological and hydraulic modelling, stormwater master planning, stormwater management planning, flood risk assessments and informing stormwater designs;
• Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in- and outside Atana in the disciplines required to deliver flood and stormwater projects. This includes the link with data science and digital services, including AI;
• Prepare technical analyses, advice and report on discipline-specific content that meets the Company’s and clients’ requirements;
• Client engagement and Business development
• Actively explore opportunities to apply a Digital Way Of Working in the flood and stormwater projects, identify internal and external needs and organise the efforts to automate and standardize processes or make them more efficient, and
• Raise brand awareness on Atana’s climate resilience expertise in the relevant sectors.
Capacity Building:
• Be a team player and contribute to the skill development and transfer of knowledge of the climate resilience team by mentoring junior and midlevel professionals;
• Actively share your knowledge and experience with your team and mentor
• Create a learning environment where colleagues are trained and can be developed to independent technical resources.
Proposals and Project Management:
• Lead preparation of proposals and tenders.
• Act as project manager for climate resilience projects or other projects
• The incumbent has a sales target of R10million with a 5% increase year on year
• Focus mainly on international work
Job Requirements
Minimum Required Qualification:
• Master’s degree in Hydrology, Hydraulics, Civil Engineering or other relevant degree;
• Professional registration with the relevant professional body – ECSA
• A project management qualification and registration is advantageous.
• 10+ years of experience in stormwater and flood resilience projects in the consulting engineering sector;
• Have technical and practical engineering skills in the relevant disciplines (e.g. stormwater management, flood management, river rehabilitation)
• Familiarity with stormwater management planning, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, water sensitive urban design (or SUDS) and/or flood management;
• Experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling packages, such as HEC-RAS (1D and 2D) and (PC)SWMM;
• International working experience i.e. ability to work on international projects and with multi-disciplinary teams
• Track record of successful consultancy, engineering and project management activities;
• Be creative and pro-active to identify issues and find the best engineering solutions;
• Be able to consistently deliver high quality, accurate and timely work.
• Mobility – A keen interest to travel locally and abroad for project work
