Job Purpose
- The Senior Social Expert will provide specialized support in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of social components of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) including Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) and Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) for energy and water infrastructure projects, including power transmission lines, substations, power generation projects and water supply and sanitation systems.
*The role involves stakeholder engagement, socio-economic data collection and analysis, impact assessment, and development of mitigation measures in compliance with national regulations and international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Environmental and Social Framework).
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences or related field
- Minimum 5 years of professional experiences in ESIA and RAP for infrastructure projects, preferably in the energy and water sectors
- Proven experience with stakeholder engagement and socio-economic assessments.
- Familiarity with international standards (IFC, World Bank, AfDB) and national environmental regulation and permitting procedures
- Experience in socio-economic surveys
- Experience as gender expert is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to travel within East Africa and internationally
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French and local languages is an advantage.
