Salary Information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience. Employees appointed to the Attorney or Water Resource Control Engineer classification will receive Recruitment Higher Above Minimum (HAM) rate in accordance with the approved Civil Service Pay Scales

The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance has an opening for a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer (Supervisory) in the Cleanup Fund. The position is located at 801 K Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 right in the heart of downtown close to light rail stations, other public transportation, awesome restaurants, and more. Duties: Under the direction of the Supervising Engineering Geologist and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments. The incumbent is responsible for the supervision and direction of technical staff that performs engineering, geological, and hydrogeological reviews of data related to an existing or threatened surface or groundwater contamination regulatory cases, and implementation of the Site Cleanup Subaccount Program (SCAP) in accordance with section 25299.50.6 of the Health and Safety Code. The incumbent works within the technical sections which support Cleanup Fund programs by performing engineering, geological, and hydrogeological reviews of data related to groundwater contamination.

Specific duties include the following: 

Supervises, directs, and monitors technical staff implementing SCAP. SCAP is required to identify, or remediate, or provide grants to remediate, existing or threatened surface or groundwater contamination. Reviews address identification of the source of surface or groundwater contamination, human health risks, and recommended response actions; geological and hydrogeological settings; site-specific work scopes needed to be performed in order for the case to meet cleanup goals, including investigation, case closure tasks; cost estimates to perform the work; invoices for eligible, and reasonable and necessary corrective action costs. Coordinates closely with other managers and staff in the Cleanup Fund Branch.
