Offer Description
Position available within the research project entitled: “Sustainable solutions to reduce the environmental impact of WWTPs using hybrid integrated modelling and process control”, project number PN-IV-P2-2.1-TE-2023-0666
• Carry out research and development activities in the project area and other specific tasks in the project in accordance with the project proposal and the project implementation plan.• Contribute to preparing materials and collecting water samples and contribute to their analysis (in accordance with the project director instructions) to determine the water indicators established together with the project team. • Process the experimental data collected in the project to use them for the development of specific software. • Develop mathematical models for pollutant transport in the Someșul Mic River and conduct research on the related phenomena. • Integrate the models for the Cluj-Napoca Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) with those for pollutant transport in the Someșul Mic River. • Formulate sustainable solutions to minimize the environmental impact of the WWTP and to understand its relationship with the receiving water body.• Participate in self-improvement activities in accordance with the needs identified in the project, including study visits and participation in workshops. • Contributes to the communication and dissemination of project results, including by writing scientific articles and participating in national and international scientific and technical events in the interest of the project. • Participates in meetings organized within the project, including the workshop on water quality. • Contributes to the development of documentation related to project reports by drafting the parts that are incumbent on him/her in accordance with the activities provided for in this document and in the project implementation plan. • Perform permanent or occasional tasks that are distributed within the project. • Responsible for performing all working hours provided for the project for the position held in accordance with the project proposal, the project implementation plan and subsequent decisions. • The aforementioned tasks are not limited; the project director may establish other specific tasks to ensure the success of the project implementation.

Skills/Qualifications
- Experience in programming in MATLAB for mathematical modeling and process control, and use of Simulink, Statistics and Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Optimization, pdepe, PDE, Fuzzy Logic toolboxes
- Solid knowledge of mathematical modeling, process optimization, process automation, momentum transfer, mass transfer, heat transfer, experimental data processing, momentum and mass transport in rivers, river specific parameters
- Working skills in water sample analysis
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Strong written and oral communication skills in Romanian
- Ability to work in a team
- Communication skills and presentation skills using IT tools
- Ability to clearly communicate complex information
- High-level analytical skills
- Ability to assimilate and apply project-specific methodologies
- Excellent IT skills in all core Microsoft Office products
Specific Requirements
- Higher education completed with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
- Enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Chemical Engineering
- Experience in taking running water samples and processing water samples
- Direct relevant experience in mathematical modeling and control applied to flowing waters.
- The candidate presented his/her work on the field of the position at minimum 2 conferences or published a acientific article in the field
- Strong written and oral communication skills in Romanian and English
- Excellent IT skills in all core Microsoft Office products
