Call for Applications: Early Career Editorial Board 2026-2027 for the journal Water Resources and Industry (CiteScore 10.6, IF 7.5)
Water Resources and Industry (WRI), an associated journal with International Water Association, is dedicated to moving research to innovation by focusing on the challenges that water-intensive industries are facing in the utilisation, management and treatment of water resources. WRI is now seeking applications from exceptional early career researchers worldwide to join its Early Career Editorial Board for the term 2026-2027. At WRI, we value diversity and are committed to fostering a broad range of perspectives on our editorial board.
We welcome submissions from talented individuals who have received their PhD within the last twelve years and are currently in a tenure-track or equivalent position. The term for ECEB members is two years, with the possibility of renewal for a second term, provided that eligibility criteria are met.
Outstanding ECEB members have the opportunity to be elevated to the prestigious status of WRI Editorial Board member and will be recommended for similar roles in other Elsevier journals. We specifically encourage applications from female researchers to ensure a diverse and inclusive ECEB.

The responsibilities of ECEB members include:
- Conduct reviews for at least 10 submissions to WRI annually
- Aim to submit at least one manuscript to WRI within the term (which will be processed like any other regular submissions)
- Be an ambassador of WRI and promote the journal via social media, conferences, and other channels
- Provide consultation to WRI editors at their request
- Assist with special issues under the guidance and discretion of WRI editors
The application process is open from 15 September 2025 until 15 November 2025. All applications will be reviewed by WRI editors and applicants will be informed about a decision within the new year. The names of the selected ECEB members will be published on Water Resources and Industry (WRI) webpage and will be announced through social media networks.
