Physical RequirementsSitting or standing for long periods of time. Repetitive computer work. Field work for site visits which require hiking on rough terrain and walking in streams for water collection.

Job SummaryThe Kentucky Geological Survey (KGS) is hiring an entry level hydrogeologist to support research and community engagement activities in our Henderson, Kentucky field office. This position will assist senior geologists in different aspects of groundwater hydrogeology, water resources, water quality, critical zone (soil sampling and analysis), and karst research. The successful candidate will thrive in the field under varied conditions, as considerable fieldwork is anticipated. The successful candidate will have basic knowledge and skills in geology, hydrogeology, and scientific computing, as well as a willingness to learn on the job with supervision from more experienced professionals.

Geologists at the KGS conduct research with the goal of building resilience for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Kentucky has considerable water resources and growing industries that rely on water. Therefore, we seek a new colleague that is committed to field hydrogeological research and engagement with stakeholders on water issues in the state and region. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are expected for KGS geologists.

Qualifications: B.S. in geology, hydrogeology, or related field from an accredited university is required for the position.
